Some customers just prefer WhatsApp over any website chat, however good it is — and making them retype everything they already said, right after they said it, is a quick way to lose them. "Continue on WhatsApp" is Chatsettu's answer to that, and here's exactly how it works, including the part that costs nothing at all.
What actually happens
It's an optional switch you turn on per AI employee (Edit Agent → "Continue on WhatsApp" after a lead), off by default. Once a visitor shares their phone number in that same chat, a green button appears right under your AI employee's thank-you message. Tap it, and WhatsApp opens on the visitor's own phone — not inside the chat, their actual WhatsApp app — already pointed at your business's number, with a message pre-typed: their name, and a line summarizing exactly what they were asking about (an order, an appointment, a budget — whatever actually applies to your business). They just tap Send.
The honest part: this is not the WhatsApp Business API
This uses a plain, free WhatsApp click-to-chat link — the same kind you could build yourself with nothing more than your own number. Chatsettu doesn't send the message, doesn't touch Meta's WhatsApp Business API, and there's no per-message cost anywhere in this. The visitor's own phone sends it, the same way it would if they'd typed your number in manually — except they don't have to type anything, because the context is already there.
What this means for your business number
Your WhatsApp number is never shown anywhere until a visitor has actually shared their phone number first — so it isn't sitting in public view the whole time. And the visitor's own phone number is deliberately left out of the pre-typed message too; WhatsApp already shows you that automatically the moment they message you.
The one honest trade-off
Once a conversation actually moves to WhatsApp, it stops using your AI employee's messages — which is a plus for your usage, not a cost. But it also means Chatsettu can't show you that WhatsApp conversation itself, only the lead that was already captured before the button appeared. It's a clean handoff, not a merged inbox, and it's worth knowing that going in.
